Yes, Some M.2 SSDs are using normal SATA lanes on the motherboard, and others are NVMe which are the most expensive use PCI lanes. Normal M.2 SSDs are cheap, But NVMe is expensive. To use NVMe drive on your pc, the motherboard must have an M-Key slot and BIOS also should have support for NVMe drive. NVMe SSDs are 3-5 times faster than normal SATA SSDs.
